Indonesia tour, day 8. Cooking class, urban village walk and religion tour were the flavors of today again. It was very touching to see students playing sport with children they met on the walk, chatting with sellers in Indonesian and diving into any opportunity for authentic exchanges they came across. Becaks, chickens, cats, street art, gelato, nasi goreng, new friends, lifelong memories. Sadly, tomorrow it is time to head for home.

Indonesia tour, Day 7. Today was temple day, with visits to the 9th Century Hindu temple complex Prambanan and the 8th Century Buddhist temple Borobudur as well as a traditional silversmith. We will let the photos tell the story!

Indonesia trip, day 6. First thing in the morning, Warrnambool College students joined in in sister school SMA3's anniversary flag-raising ceremony. For the rest of the day, groups participated in a range of activities - a religion tour, a cooking class and a walk through the urban village Kali Code. Each offered a unique insight into life for Australia's nearest neighbours and will be of great value for students continuing their language studies into VCE. Some of the group visited the town square, where they attempted to cross blindfolded between two sacred banyan trees. With many attempts at this seemingly simple task, we only had two successful crossings. Following the success of the first multicultural school celebration at Warrnambool College, students from the Multicultural Leadership Group (MLG) were supported by Lauren and Charlotte from @Warrnambool City Council in their focus to give back to the community during Term 3. Visiting the local charities of Western District Food Share and Loved & Shared, students learned about food insecurity, the benefits of volunteering and non-profit organisations, as well as the aid and relief that these organisations offer for many families across our South West District. Over several weeks, students from the MLG assisted the volunteers of Food Share to box up over 20 boxes of food, each weighing approximately 6kgs each. At Loved and Shared, MLG students helped to sort through some of the 95kgs of clothing donated by students and their families from Our Lady Help of Christians PS. The MLG students will be returning to these charities, and others within the local area, next year to continue their community involvement. #warrnamboolcollege #MLG #multicultural #givingback

Indonesia tour, day 5. Another early rise for another wonderful morning at sister school Olifant. We participated in Indonesian, Mandarin and Javanese classes with Olifant students, making nasi goreng and wayang (shaddow puppets) and eating moon cakes. The afternoon was well spent at a shopping centre, before we were welcomed as special guests to the anniversary celebration of our other sister school, SMA3. We have been extremely proud of the way in which our students have represented our school on long, busy days.
